CAMP DETAILS - As of June 27, 2021
CHECK-IN:
Check-in for the 2021 Little Rhody Lacrosse Camp will start at 8:30 AM Monday, June 28th. This will take place by the press box of our synthetic turf field. There will be a small tent and tables set up in this area and this is where drop-off and pick-up will take place every day of camp. Please park in areas specified below.
Please note that the end of each day, each camper will need to be "excused" by member of our coaching staff. We understand there will be carpooling but one adult will need to by check-in area/turf field at end of day so we can excuse your son and those in your carpool.
COVID-19:
Due to continued concerns about COVID-19! It is the camp, camp administrators and Roger Williams understanding and assumption that you will not bring your child to camp if he is feeling sick or experiencing COVID like symptoms.
EQUIPMENT
Each registrant will be asked to bring a reversible jersey with them to camp. We will not be providing these this year. Each participant will receive one free t-shirt, additional shirts will be for sale.
ALL OTHER EQUIPMENT IS RESPONSIBILITY OF PARTICIPANT. This equipment includes helmet, stick, gloves, arm pads, shoulder pads, mouthpiece as well as chest protector and throat guard for goalie participants. We will have water at the field at all times, but it is strongly encouraged everyone bring their own water bottles.
PLEASE HAVE YOUR SONS BRING A PAIR OF SNEAKERS PLUS A PAIR OF FLIP-FLOPS FOR THE DINING COMMONS AND POOL. NO CLEATS WILL BE ALLOWED IN THE COMMONS or POOL AREA.
During recreation time on the turf, everyone will need to wear sneakers (if not wearing their cleats). Bare feet will not be allowed. We have had some toe injuries in the past due to bare feet as well as kids wearing just flip flops.
Also, if kids are interested in trying different positions during the camp, this is fine. There will be daily positional work, so if someone wants to bring their goalie gear, a long-stick and/or a short stick from home to get some coaching on it at the Camp to see if they like a different position, this is highly encouraged.
POOL
The pool will be available to use every day during Camp. There will be certified lifeguards on duty as well as Camp staff overseeing pool time. For those interested in swimming, parents must fill out, sign and submit Waiver Form on the first day of check-in. Swim Waiver Form can be accessed HERE. There will be additional forms at check-in as well.
Campers do not have to swim if they don't want to; there will be other activities on the turf field to keep them occupied.
Other items kids are encouraged to bring include flip flops and/or sneakers (as stated above), bathing suit, towel (see below), SUNSCREEN and any other items you would like your son to bring with him.
PARKING
Camp is in Lots C & D per our Campus Map. Campus map can be viewed by clicking HERE. Easiest way to access these lots are by entering campus via our North Campus entrance (not the main University entrance by the fountain). When entering the North Campus entrance, you will start to see our turf field on your right; just past our baseball/softball facility.
LUNCH will be provided; all campers will have access to our University Dining Commons. There is a limited options for those who are gluten free. We will have a small concessions stand at the camp, but again, all campers will receive meal passes to enter our Dining Commons. Our Dining Commons is an all-you-can eat dining facility, however we do ask for parent's help in reminding your sons to take only what they will actually eat to cut down on the food waste (this is always an issue during camp; particularly the first two days).
"NO BULLYING" POLICY
Bullying will continue to be addressed throughout Camp; since it has surfaced in one form or another over the past few years. Please discuss with your sons to refrain from this type of behavior, but also tell them not to hesitate to let myself or a staff member if they feel they are being bullied. This can be hard to do, but once addressed we can remedy the situation as quickly as possible.
ALSO;
We have had issues in the past where participants have taken items from other participants. Sometimes this has been done inadvertently, however please remind your sons to keep all of their items in their bag when unoccupied and zip up!
